Seasonal Event SEO

Red and pink fireworks bursting in a night sky

Be ready before your busy season starts

Most hire businesses live by the calendar. Summer fun days, Halloween parties, Christmas markets, firework displays and the wedding season all bring a rush of searches, and the businesses that rank are the ones whose pages were ready weeks before the rush began.

The mistake I see most often is a page thrown together the week before, or a new "Christmas 2024" post every year that never builds up any history with Google. Seasonal pages work best when they're evergreen: one permanent page for each season, kept live all year and refreshed before the season comes round again.

Choose your season

When to get each season ready

Google needs time to find, test and trust a page, so I aim to have seasonal pages live and refreshed well before people start booking.

Season When people book Have your page ready by
Easter February to March January
Summer March to June February
Wedding season January onwards, often a year or more ahead December
Halloween September to October August
Bonfire Night August to October July
Christmas September to November August
New Year's Eve October to December September
Valentine's Day January to early February November

What seasonal SEO includes

Frequently asked questions

Why not just write a new seasonal blog post every year?

A new post each year starts from nothing every time. One permanent page collects links, reviews and history year after year, so it usually ranks higher and earlier. You simply update the dates, photos and prices before each season.

Should seasonal pages stay live when the season is over?

Yes. Taking them down throws away everything they've built up. Out of season, the page can say when bookings open and point people to your year-round services.

Which season should I start with?

Whichever earns you the most, as long as there's still time to get it ready. If your next busy season is only a few weeks away, we can start with the one after it and use PPC to cover the gap.
