How to Rank in Every Town You Cover

Why town pages matter

Most people search for a bouncy castle with a place in mind: "bouncy castle hire Croydon", "bouncy castles near me" or "soft play hire in Bromley". Google wants to show businesses that clearly serve that area, and your home page can only do so much. A good page for each of your main towns gives Google, and parents, a clear reason to choose you there.

The catch is that town pages only work if they're genuinely useful. A hundred near-identical pages with the town name swapped in won't rank well, and they can drag the rest of your site down with them.

Choose the right towns first

Your past bookings are the best guide. Five strong town pages will do more than fifty thin ones.

What makes a good town page

What to avoid

How town pages work with Google Business Profile

Your website and your Google Business Profile work together. The profile helps you show in the map results near your base, while town pages help you rank in the normal results further afield. Make sure the areas on both match.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a town page be?

Long enough to be useful. Most good town pages run to a few hundred words, plus photos and links to your castles. Quality matters more than length.

Can I rank in towns a long way from my base?

In the normal results, often yes, if you have a useful page and some local reviews or links. The map results are much harder far from your base, which is why town pages matter so much.

What about "near me" searches?

You can't really target "near me" directly. Google uses the searcher's location, so the best you can do is have strong town pages and a complete Google Business Profile for the areas you cover.
