Getting into the map results
When someone searches for bouncy castle hire, Google often shows a map with three businesses above the normal results. Those three get a lot of the calls. Which businesses appear depends mostly on your Google Business Profile, your reviews and how close you are to the person searching.
You can't change where you're based, but you can make sure your profile is complete, accurate and active, which is where most hire businesses fall short.
Set it up properly
- Business name: use your real business name, exactly as it appears on your vans and website. Adding keywords or town names that aren't part of your name breaks Google's guidelines and can get your profile suspended.
- Category: choose the most specific primary category available for what you do, then add relevant secondary categories, such as party equipment rental or soft play.
- Service area: if customers don't visit you, hide your address and set the towns and areas you deliver to instead.
- Phone and website: use the same number and link as your website, ideally linking to your home page.
- Opening hours: show when you take calls and bookings, and update them for bank holidays and seasons.
Fill in the details
- Services and products: add your main castles, combis, slides and soft play, with short descriptions and prices if you can.
- Description: explain what you hire out, who for and where, in plain language.
- Photos: add plenty of real photos of your castles set up at jobs, plus your vans and team. Keep adding new ones through the year.
Keep it active
- Posts: share offers, new castles and seasonal availability, especially before your busy periods.
- Questions: answer questions people ask on your profile, and add common ones yourself.
- Reviews: ask every happy customer for a review and reply to every review you get. My reviews guide covers how.
Make it match your website
Google trusts businesses whose details are consistent everywhere. Your name, phone number and areas should match your website, your town pages and any directory listings, such as those on my directory network.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have more than one profile to cover more towns?
Only if you have a genuine, staffed location in each place. Creating profiles for addresses you don't really operate from breaks Google's rules and can get all of them removed. Use town pages on your website instead.
Why don't I show in the map results in the next town?
The map results lean heavily on distance from the person searching. Further from your base, you'll usually do better in the normal results with a strong town page.
How often should I post?
Little and often is best. A post every week or two is plenty, with more in the run-up to your busy seasons.
